Pilgrim's Moon
A downloadable game
The Game
Pilgrim's Moon is a tabletop adventure RPG about reclaiming the surface of a world wasted by war using resourcefulness, cooperation, and gigantic magical terraformers.
In the game, player characters (called pilgrims) set out via lift from the Crater to explore the surface nearby.
There are three phases of play (preparation, scouting, and reclamation) in which pilgrims:
- Prepare themselves for pilgrimage at the Crater by provisioning, training, prayer, and research.
- Set out from a lift to explore the surface of Lido. Exploration is tracked with a point map, hex map, or similar contrivance - the specifics aren't important, but using a map is central to and necessary for play. We use the word "area" to describe a unit of map, whether it be point, hex, grid, etc. During the scouting phase, pilgrims encounter both permanent features of the land as well as random encounters.
- Dig in at valuable sites like terraforming engines in order to defend the site while permanently improving it. During reclamation, enhancements are made - tech is repaired, buildings are cleared, and findings are catalogued. For each reclamation phase a survey (group of pilgrims) spends in an area, the less dangerous and more beneficial it becomes. The game includes GM-oriented procedures for managing the map, enhancements, and random encounters.
The core gimmick of the game, the enhancement system, is intended to set Pilgrim's Moon apart by shifting the focus of the game to distributing resources rather than accumulating them.
